April '26 Updates
This Changelog post outlines the updates made to the Newline Platform in April 2026.
What We Improved
Newline API
- Instant Payments Object & Documentation Updates Updated the instant_payment object to align with current production behavior and real‑time payment requirements. This includes removing deprecated payer fields, introducing new RTP‑ready fields (initiating_party_name, original_end_to_end_id), adding the existing instant_payment_transmitter object, and preparing the object for future RFP requirements. API documentation and custard specs were updated accordingly to ensure consistency across integrations.
- Webhooks for API Event Notifications Introduced webhook‑based API event notifications as an alternative to Message Queue delivery. This capability is currently behind a feature flag, with a pilot client being identified for initial rollout.
- ACH IAT Object Documentation Improvements Refined ACH IAT object documentation by replacing generic descriptions with accurate, field‑level explanations to improve developer clarity and implementation accuracy.
What We Fixed

Why It Matters
These updates improve developer clarity, integration accuracy, and readiness for real‑time payments across Newline’s platform. By aligning Instant Payments objects and documentation with live production behavior, developers can integrate with greater confidence and fewer assumptions. Improved readiness for real‑time payments and clearer ACH guidance reduce onboarding friction and improve long‑term maintainability for both clients and internal teams.
The absence of bug fixes this month also reflects the stability of the platform during this release cycle. We remain committed to continuously improving documentation quality and platform reliability to support seamless financial experiences.
